Historically, Pelion.....
In Greek mythology, Mount Pelion (which took its name from the mythical king Peleus, father of the Greek super warrior, ACHILLES) was the homeland of Chiron the Centaur, tutor to the ancient Greek heroes, such as Jason of the argonauts, Achilles, Theseus and Hercules.
It was in Mount Pelion, near Chiron's cave, that the marriage of Thetis and Peleus took place. The uninvited goddess Eris (Discord), to take revenge for having been kept outside the party, brought a golden apple with the inscription "To the Fairest". The dispute that then arose between the goddesses Hera, Aphrodite and Athena resulted in events leading to the Trojan War.
In Greek mythology, Chiron ("hand"[1]) was held as the exemplary centaur among his brethren. Chiron was highly intelligent, civilized and kind. He was known for his wise practical knowledge and skill with medicine.
A great healer, astrologer, and respected oracle, Chiron was said to be the last centaur and highly revered as a teacher and tutor. Among his pupils were many heroes: Asclepius, Ajax, Aeneas, Theseus, Achilles, Jason, Hercules, Phoenix, and in some stories, the wine god Dionysus.
He was honoured with a place in the sky, for the Greeks as the constellation Sagittarius, and in modern times represented by the constellation of the southern hemisphere, Centaurus.
